Inspired by basic concepts in American government & US history that I’ve had the honor of teaching for 20 years, my experience as a Veteran, and, most importantly, as a human being just trying her best to help make those American ideals so eloquently stated over 250 years ago a reality, I’m extremely proud to present the first design in our new Civic Virtuositees line.
While the founders were attempting to correct mistakes made with our first government under the Articles of Confederation, the quest for a better nation did not stop in 1787. Today, especially in a world of 30 second TikToks, it is imperative that we finally take the time to acknowledge and accept the overwhelming complexities and contradictions of American history…and keep going.
Democracy is a verb. We have been, and always will be, stronger together (that’s why historically many of those who have held or currently hold power work so hard to keep us divided- whether by race, $$$, geography, religion, etc.)
Y’all, it’s beyond time to move beyond ridiculous party lines and endless labels. The arc of the moral universe doesn’t bend towards justice by itself- we all need to do our part- every. single. day.- together in our beloved communities, and in the world.
